Getting To Know Me
My name is Noah Smith and I want to become an elementary school teacher!
This is my first year studying at the University of Regina, and let me tell you it has been an awesome experience so far! Being able to make new friends with similar interests as yourself is so exciting!
A few things to know about me. I was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. I attended a french immersion school until the very end of grade 5. Then I moved with my family to White City where I still live today. I attended the White City Elementary School until completion. I went to High School over at Greenall High School in Balgonie, Saskatchewan. It wasn't until my final year at Greenall that I decided that I wanted to become a teacher. My decision was made final after I did some job shadowing earlier that year at the elementary school I attended in White City, now known as Ecole White City.
Why do you want to become a teacher?
Growing up I had some behavioral issues. I always acted out in class and was an
issue to my teachers and my fellow students. It wasn't until I hit grade seven and
eight that I managed to mature a little bit. A big reason that happened was because
of the positive impact a lot of my teachers had on me. By never giving up on me they
gave me the required tools to succeed. Growing up I always wanted to help people and
I thought to myself what better way then helping the youth and be like those teachers
that helped me and changed my life for the better.
